Classic Guitar

Of all the types of music that you can play or listen to from an acoustic guitar, classical music has a depth, a fullness that is so sweet that if you allow yourself to, you can fall into meditation, sleep, restfullness..whatever place you need to go to for your peace of mind.  Classical guitar touches own to the soul.

There are many people who swear they hate classical music but when they are put in tune with classical guitar, more times than not, they find that it takes them to a place of restfullness, calmness and peace.  Granted, not everyone wants to be in that state so for them at that time, it's not the right music to listen to.  But for others it is a pleasant surprise.

From souring riffs up and down the neck of the guitar, the twanging nylon strings find a way to sing out and resonate to a level that allows for musical delight for not only the listener but also the player.  Watching the guitarist hands cn be mesmorizing.  The bility to stretch the fingers to hit notes all over the neck of the guitar to the fluid movements of the finger picking, watching the performance is breath taking.  And if you already play guitar and watch, you apprciate it that much more.

There is nothing better than to learn to play classical music.  Listening to it is one thing but the ability to play it puts you in such a state of oneness with your guitar that you will just want to learn more and more as you fall in love with the genre.

Acoustic Music

Not only is acoustic guitar a music that can be adapted to just about any musical type or genre, it is also one that continues to grow in popularity. Most of the students that learn guitar start with acoustic and move to electric. And in many cases, this evolution from acoustic to electric is very beneficial to the student.

To support the learning experience there are many acoustic music collections that you can buy which will give the student songs, riffs or just listening pleasure.  The acoustic music that you can learn from  is wide and varied.  You can learn simply by buying music that has acoustic guitar as the primary accompaniment, you can get acoustic music that is completely instrumental and you can also get instructional music collections that will allow you to play along with the CD.

Acoustic guitar music also comes out in sheet music.  Just like the CD music, there are also sheet music collections that will teach you how to play by either  showing you how to play along with song, using tablature to teach you how to finger pick or collections that are all about classical music and the riffs that you need to know how to play to be successful with the classical and acoustic music.

Fun and Playing Guitar

There are so many reasons why you might be interested in learning an instrument.  At for most instruments you get the same gains.  You learn how to be patient, you learn how to be persistant.  You learn the basics of music theory, you learn to believe in yourselves. You also learn some basic math even though you don't know it at the time, you learn how to be creative.  And hopefully you learn that with effort you can accomplish anything.

You get these from just about any instrument.  With very few exceptions, most of these instruments are stand alone, meaning that you can't do anything but play the instrument.  The two most popular "accompaniment" instruments though are piano and guitar. With both of these instruments you can not only play the instrument but can also sing along and accompany yourself.  It is the reason a lot of musicians pick up these two instruments.  It is fun to play along with yourself.

Guitar is a great instrument to learn for a number of reasons.  It seems to be a bit more portable (can't carry a piano over your back), it is a bit easier to learn  and it tends to be a little easier to play and sing at the same time.  Although both instruments can accomplish the same thing, you will find that a larger percentage of students are taking guitar  rather than piano, escpecially as they get older.  There is no reason for this phenomonom other than playing the guitar seems to be more socially acceptable.  Jam sessions are held, open mike bars, bands wit lots of guitars, all of these reason might contribute to why it is such a popular instrument.  For me though, it is just plain fun.

Movies as Therapy

Don't laugh-well maybe do laugh.  That's kind of the point.  When you need some levity and some relaxation and you can't seem to get yourself involved with a book or any other good activity.  You should think about catching a movie.  Movies are a great therapy for stress relief.  In fact, they can take you away quicker than just about anything else that you can do if you allow yourself to be involved in the show.

Right now I tend to like to go to comedy's.  I like to laugh.  Laughing is a good therapy, watching a movie is good therapy, I  get two for one when I go to a funny movie.  I actually am looking forward to seeing the newest Ice Age.  Those movies just make me bust a gut.  And that's good too.  Did you know that good old fashioned belly laughs are  the healthiest things you can have when you are trying to relieve stress?  Its true.

I am smart about it though.  I stay away from tear jerkers when I am sad and I go to action  shows when I need to be totally emmersed in something.  But fr the most part, I choose the comedies.  In fact, animated comedies are my preference.  And I'm not so young anymore, this is probably considered strange by some my age.  I walk into a  theater full of kids and parents and its just me and my pop corn.  But when the lights go down and theshow starts, I promise you, everyone can hear my belly laugh.

You should ry it.  If your looking for another way to "get away" you should see if a good movie does it for you.  Everyone has their own thing that helps them, maybe the movies can be yours.  Try it out and see if you feel any better when it is over.  Maybe the movie will work for you too.
